Tuesday Night Volleyball Roundup: District Races Heating Up Across West Texas

Tuesday night was packed with volleyball action across West Texas, as district races heated up and several contenders continued to separate themselves in the standings. Amarillo High stayed perfect, West Plains put on a defensive showcase, Randall and Canyon set up a Saturday showdown, and Liberty went on the road and took care of business in dominant fashion. The night delivered statement wins, gritty performances, and plenty of standout stat lines. Here’s a look back at all the results.


Frenship vs Abilene Cooper

The Frenship Lady Tigers went on the road and topped Abilene Cooper in four sets (25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15) in non-district play.


Lady Tiger leaders:


  • Bliss Dane – 15 kills, 14 digs, 3 aces

  • Reese Roberts – 12 kills, 11 digs, 2 aces

  • Kayle Upham – 21 assists, 10 digs, 1 ace

  • Hana Hutcheson – 20 assists, 3 digs, 1 ace

Lubbock Cooper vs Tascosa

The Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates fell at home to Tascosa in straight sets (21-25, 12-25, 17-25), moving to 16-9 on the year and 4-2 in district play. Tascosa improves to 18-9 overall and 5-1 in district.


Lady Pirates leaders:


  • Broox Lopez – 18 assists, 6 kills

  • Konli Johnston – 5 kills, 5 digs, 2 aces

  • Bry Carlile – 6 kills, 5 digs


Tascosa leaders:


  • Presley Ward – 14 kills

  • Avery Scalf – 6 kills, 4 blocks

  • Bennet Berryman – 15 digs


Next up: Lubbock-Cooper travels to Monterey on Saturday, while Tascosa hosts Palo Duro.


Lubbock Corondao vs Caprock


The Coronado Lady Mustangs defended their home court with a sweep of Caprock (25-13, 25-18, 25-11) to add another district win. Coronado improves to 17-13 on the season and 5-1 in district play. The Mustangs also got a spark from Michaela Flink, who stepped in for her first varsity setting duties with Caitlyn Olguin out.

  • Vivien Welch – 8 kills, 6 digs, 1 block, 4 aces

Amarillo High vs Lubbock Monterey

The Amarillo High Lady Sandies kept their perfect district record intact with a sweep of Monterey (25-7, 25-9, 25-14). AHS now sits at 19-9 overall and 7-0 in district play.


Lady Sandies leaders:

  • Kinsler Hanson – 8 kills, 2 blocks

  • Bennett Rea – 23 assists, 1 ace

Palo Duro vs Lubbock High


The Palo Duro Lady Dons picked up their first district win on the road over Lubbock High in four sets (25-17, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19).


Palo Duro controlled the match by responding after a tight second set, taking the final two frames to secure the victory.

The Liberty Lady Patriots dominated on the road, sweeping Big Spring (25-4, 25-7, 25-8).

Estacado vs Lake View


The Lubbock Estacado Lady Matadors battled past San Angelo Lake View in a five-set thriller, earning the road win (23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8).


Estacado responded after dropping the opening set and outlasted Lake View in the decisive fifth to secure the victory.


Next up: The Lady Matadors travel to Liberty on Saturday.


Snyder vs Levelland


The Snyder Lady Tigers earned a straight-set victory over Levelland (25-21, 25-23, 25-20). Snyder controlled the match in the closing points of each set to complete the sweep.

The West Plains Lady Wolves stayed unbeaten in district with a 3-1 win over Hereford (23-25, 25-10, 25-22, 26-24). West Plains improves to 21-9 overall and 3-0 in district play, while Hereford drops to 13-13 and 1-2.

Andrews vs Klondike


The Andrews Lady Mustangs rolled to a straight-set win over Klondike (25-13, 25-9, 25-13) on Tuesday night. It was a milestone evening as Emma Sauceda recorded her 200th career ace in the victory.


Bushland vs Abilene Wylie


The Abilene Wylie Lady Bulldogs outlasted Bushland in a five-set battle played at Liberty (29-27, 24-26, 10-25, 25-20, 15-13). Wylie took the opening set in extra points and closed strong in the decisive fifth to secure the victory over the defending state champions.
