The weekend gave us another look at just how competitive volleyball is going to be across West Texas this fall. District 3-5A took center stage with a battle of unbeaten teams as Frenship handed Tascosa its first district loss, while Amarillo High remained perfect with an impressive sweep of Lubbock-Cooper. Coronado and Memorial also picked up important district victories as the standings continue to take shape.

Had a great conversation this morning with a coach who asked me a pretty fun question: Who do I need to have my eyes on and why? So I thought I would share here as well as I have seen some really good volleyball this year. Tucked away in Rip North was a showdown between 2 defending State Champions and 2 State Tournament MVPs as Lipan's Sydni Gaylor and Wall's Jewels Johnson went head-to-head.
