Had a great conversation this morning with a coach who asked me a pretty fun question:
Who do I need to have my eyes on and why?
So I thought I would share here as well as I have seen some really good volleyball this year.
I am going to break this up into front row and back row players, and this is honestly in no particular order nor is it the entire list of top talent we have her in West Texas. Just have to cut the list at some point so keeping it to the top 5-6 girls in each that have stood out to me.
Let’s start with front row
Rylan Newbrough, Andrews - Just a junior and is an absolute high ball terminator who can score in system and out. She is a six rotation, high volume scorer who doesn’t just rely on her power and athleticism alone as her volleyball IQ leads her to consistently beat good blocks down the line or with off speed shots. She is definitely one of the highest volume pins in the State.

Harper Vaughan, Amarillo High - Also just a Junior she is one of the most impressive athletes you will see on the court, a perfect combination of size and production. She is no doubt the most powerful hitter I have seen this year but it’s not just the power her length and attacking range is elite and allows her to carry a high volume without becoming 1 dimensional.

Brielle Booth, Boerne Champion - The Texas State commit is hands down one of the most versatile players I have seen this year. A legitimate scorer with elite back row ability. She can attack with range, defend and is an elite passer. Her ability to read attackers, control the first contact and keep balls playable was really fun to watch. One match she was playing OH and the next she had the Libero jersey on.

Lexie Allgood, Liberty - This junior is athletic and explosive as anyone you will see in the gym. Her vertical and strong arm give her the ability to score from several locations. She attacks the ball high, creates difficult blocking matchups for opponents and has developed an absolutely lethal serve that has added another weapon to her arsenal. What’s scary for opponents is she is just scratching the surface as she still has a substantial development runway.

Emma Ellis, Holliday - I was really impressed with Emma’s first step and transition speed. She is constantly available to her setter, scores efficiently by attacking at different angles and is a solid blocking presence. She is another player that when you watch her you know she is just going to get better. Committed to North Texas I am excited to see what she becomes in a collegiate strength and conditioning program. Also going to be fun to see her play with Randall Alum Sidney Soria for the Mean Green.

Ryleigh Conner, Liberty - The Oral Roberts commit has good size a live arm and a high contact point. She is another player I can’t wait to see in a collegiate strength and conditioning program as she has the frame to not only be an elite attacker but an elite blocker as well. Everything about Ryleigh’s game screams she has considerably more offensive potential that the stat sheet shows as she shares the court with a tremendous stable of offensive weapons at Liberty.

If you are a college coach looking for West Texas talent, there is plenty of it out there. 🏐🔥
