District races are starting to take shape, and the weekend gave us plenty to talk about.


Last year's State Finalist Bushland Lady Falcons survived three nail biters against Liberty, Amarillo High stayed perfect in District 3-5A, Canyon survived a five set battle with West Plains, and Randall continued its impressive start to district play.


We also saw big wins from Frenship, Tascosa, Lubbock Cooper, Andrews, Greenwood and plenty more from across the area.

Last year's State Finalist Bushland Lady Falcons made the trip to Lubbock Saturday morning and came away with a hard fought sweep over Liberty.

Don’t let the 3-0 final fool you. Every set came down to the wire. The Lady Patriots pushed Bushland beyond 25 in each of the final two sets, but the Lady Falcons found a way to win the biggest points and finish off three incredibly tight sets.

Amarillo High continued to roll through District 3-5A, taking care of Lubbock High in straight sets.

The Lady Sandies controlled the match from start to finish, holding the Westerners to single digits in the second set and never allowing them to build enough momentum to threaten the sweep.

Frenship continued its strong run through District 3-5A play, sweeping Caprock in straight sets.

The Tigers grabbed control in the opening set before completely taking over in the 2nd, holding Caprock to just eight points. Frenship kept its foot on the gas in the 3rd to finish off the sweep.

The Lady Rebels took the opener before Memorial made them work for everything the rest of the way. Tascosa finished off a tight second set 26-24, then held off the Lady Panthers again in the third to secure the sweep.

Lubbock Cooper picked up another District 3-5A victory Friday night, sweeping Monterey on the road.

The biggest test came in the 2nd set when the Lady Pirates found themselves trailing 15-7. Lubbock Cooper responded with a huge run, erased the eight point deficit and battled back to take the set 25-22.


From there, the Lady Pirates carried the momentum into the 3rd and rolled 25-12 to finish the sweep.

Coronado took care of business against Palo Duro, controlling the match from start to finish on the way to a straight set District 3-5A victory.

CANYON SURVIVES A FIVE SET BATTLE AT WEST PLAINS. šŸšŸ”„


Canyon jumped out to a two set lead Saturday, but West Plains refused to go quietly. The Lady Wolves battled all the way back to force a fifth before the Lady Eagles slammed the door.

After Canyon controlled the first two sets, West Plains flipped the momentum and answered with back to back wins to even the match. But with everything on the line in the fifth, Canyon took complete control, racing away with a 15-4 win to stay unbeaten in district play.
