WEST TEXAS VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Statement Wins, Reverse Sweeps and Milestones Highlight Tuesday Night 🏐🔥

District races are starting to take shape across West Texas, and Tuesday night gave us everything from statement sweeps to milestone performances and a pair of incredible reverse sweeps.

Amarillo High made a statement in District 3-5A with a sweep of Frenship to remain unbeaten in district play, while Memorial erased a two set deficit to stun Coronado. Andrews and West Plains opened district with wins, Canyon took down Hereford, and Randall answered an opening set loss to knock off Dumas.

We also saw some history. Andrews’ Rylan Newbrough reached a school record 200 career blocks, Danlee Fisher collected career dig No. 1,500, while Hereford’s Kyndall Valdez and Lilly Madrigal each reached the 1,000 mark in career digs and assists.

And the comebacks? Memorial wasn’t alone. Trinity Christian rallied from two sets down to reverse sweep Shallowater, while Forsan and Water Valley went the distance in another five set battle.

AMARILLO HIGH MAKES A STATEMENT. 🏐🔥

Amarillo High stayed perfect in District 3-5A play Tuesday night with an impressive straight set victory over Frenship in a matchup between two of the district’s top teams.

The Lady Sandies controlled the match early, then completely took over in the second set. Frenship responded with a much stronger push in the third, but Amarillo High closed it out 25-21 to complete the sweep and move to 5-0 in district play.

MEMORIAL PULLS OFF THE REVERSE SWEEP. 🏐🔥

Frenship Memorial looked to be in serious trouble Tuesday night after dropping the first two sets to Coronado.

Then everything changed.

The Lady Panthers battled back to win two straight 25-22 sets, forcing a winner take all fifth. With the match on the line, Memorial completed the comeback with a 15-13 victory to finish off the reverse sweep.

LUBBOCK COOPER BOUNCES BACK. 🏐🔥

Lubbock Cooper got back in the win column Tuesday night, taking care of Caprock in straight sets at home.

Caprock made the Pirates work for the opening set, but once Lubbock Cooper grabbed it 25-22, the Pirates took control. They held Caprock to 13 points in each of the final two sets to close out the District 3-5A sweep.

Andrews started district play exactly how it wanted Tuesday night, rolling past Fort Stockton in straight sets.

The Lady Mustangs controlled the match from the start and only got stronger as the night went on, closing things out with a dominant 25-6 third set.
