From statement wins to milestone moments, volleyball action across West Texas this weekend was packed with intensity. Several teams strengthened their district standing with key sweeps, while others battled through five-set thrillers to keep playoff hopes alive. Programs like Amarillo High, Randall, Coronado, Liberty, and more showcased why the district race is only getting tougher as the season moves deeper into the fall.

It was a special night in Shallowater as longtime Fillies head coach Amy Mangum returned, this time on the visitors bench leading Frenship. The Lady Tigers delivered, closing out non-district play with a sweep of Shallowater, 25-18, 25-17, 25-22, to finish the preseason at 20-12.

  • Emma Harrell (who played lights out) anchored the defense with 19 digs, 3 assists, and 1 ace.

  • Reese Roberts was unstoppable at the net with 14 kills, 10 digs, and 2 aces.

  • Bliss Dane posted a double-double of 10 kills, 11 digs, and 2 aces.

  • Lauryn Hiner added 10 kills, 4 digs, and 1 block.

  • Hana Hutcheson kept the offense clicking with 22 assists and 6 digs.


The Lady Tigers now turn their focus to district play, opening tomorrow night at home against Midland High.

The Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates stayed firmly in the playoff picture Saturday with a sweep of Monterey, 25-17, 27-25, 25-18. The win keeps Cooper in the top four of the district standings and moves their record to 17-9 overall, 5-2 in district.

It was another massive night for Lopez, who set the tone and spread the offense around as Cooper took control of a critical district road match.


Next up: the Lady Pirates return home Tuesday for a huge matchup against Amarillo High.

Lady Mustangs Sweep, Holdman Reaches 2,000 Career Assists 


The Coronado Lady Mustangs took care of business against the Westerners on Saturday, sweeping 25-9, 25-13, 25-21 to improve to 18-13 overall and 6-1 in district.


The night also brought a special milestone as setter Malory Holdman surpassed 2,000 career assists in Set 2, a huge achievement for the senior floor leader.

  • Addison Brown – 24 digs, 4 assists

  • Caitlyn Olguin – 15 assists, 6 digs

Next up: the Lady Mustangs return home Tuesday, September 23, for a huge district showdown with Tascosa at 7:00 PM, with sole possession of second place on the line.


Tascosa vs Palo Duro


The Tascosa Lady Rebels handled business Tuesday night, sweeping Palo Duro 25-9, 25-8, 25-6 to stay in the thick of the district race. The win keeps Tascosa in a tie for second place with Lubbock Coronado.

The Amarillo High Sandies stepped out of district play on Saturday to face defending 3A State Champion Bushland, and they didn’t disappoint. The Sandies earned a 3-1 win, 25-21, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16

Amarillo High controlled the opening two sets, weathered a Bushland push in Set 3, and closed the door in Set 4 to add another marquee win to their resume.

Frenship Memorial vs Levelland

The Frenship Memorial Lady Panthers picked up a huge district win Tuesday night, battling past Levelland in five sets: 25-11, 25-22, 28-30, 23-25, 15-10.


With the victory, Memorial moves into second place in district play at 18-7 overall and 2-1 in district


Big Spring vs Snyder


The Big Spring Lady Steers picked up a key district win Tuesday night, defeating Snyder in four sets: 25-15, 28-30, 25-16, 25-20.


Big Spring controlled the match behind steady play at the net and timely defense, bouncing back strong after dropping a tight second set.

The West Plains Lady Wolves took care of business Tuesday night, sweeping the Rangerettes 25-7, 25-10, 25-12 to improve to 22-9 on the season and 4-0 in district.

The Dumas Demonettes earned a straight-set win over Borger on Tuesday night, 25-15, 25-22, 25-16, improving to 15-15 overall and 2-2 in district.

The Pampa Lady Harvesters pulled off a gritty win Tuesday night, rallying past Hereford in five sets: 25-22, 25-23, 25-27, 19-25, 16-14. Hereford drops to 13-14 overall and 1-3 in district play.

Randall Stays Perfect in District 


The Randall Lady Raiders kept their perfect district record intact with a sweep of rival Canyon, 26-24, 25-22, 25-19. The win moves Randall to 4-0 in district play.


With the victory, Randall sets up a massive showdown Tuesday night against West Plains, with early district supremacy on the line.

The Odessa High Lady Bronchos earned a straight-set victory over Andrews on Saturday, 25-14, 25-21, 25-22.

The Dalhart Lady Wolves took care of business Tuesday night, sweeping Talkington 25-11, 25-21, 25-21 to improve to 24-5-2 on the season.

The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles picked up a straight-set win Saturday, downing Dimmitt 25-9, 25-14, 25-17.
