LCU Volleyball Needs a Win and Some Help to Reach Lone Star Conference Tournament

The Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps enter the final weekend of the regular season with their postseason hopes still alive, but their path to the Lone Star Conference Tournament is anything but easy.
With the top nine teams qualifying for the conference tournament and seven spots
already secured, three teams are battling for the final two positions.
Oklahoma Christian and Western New Mexico both sit at 8-7 in conference play with two matches remaining, while LCU is right behind them at 8-8 with just one match left.
For the Lady Chaps, the math is simple. Win Friday and hope for some help.

LCU closes the regular season against Midwestern State, a team that has dropped three of its last four matches. A victory would move the Lady Chaps to 9-8 and keep their postseason hopes alive.
But winning alone won't be enough.
The first tiebreaker for Lone Star Conference tournament qualification is head-to-head results, and LCU lost its regular-season meetings with both Oklahoma Christian and Western New Mexico.
That means the Lady Chaps need one of those two teams to lose both of its remaining matches, allowing LCU to finish ahead in the standings.
The games LCU fans will be watching
Western New Mexico (8-7)
The Mustangs close the regular season at home against St. Mary's and St. Edward's. LCU needs Western New Mexico to lose both matches.
Oklahoma Christian (8-7)
The Eagles hit the road for their final two matches, facing Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M. Two Oklahoma Christian losses would also open the door for LCU.

One match at a time
For Lubbock Christian, none of the other results matter without first taking care of business against Midwestern State.
A win would give the Lady Chaps nine conference victories and a chance to extend their season, provided the right results fall their way elsewhere in the Lone Star Conference.
The Lady Chaps don't control their own destiny, but they still have something to play for.
First, beat Midwestern State. Then, start scoreboard watching.
