District races are starting to take shape, and Tuesday night delivered everything from statement sweeps to five set thrillers.


Randall survived a wild five setter against West Plains, Monterey picked up a big District 3-5A win over Frenship, and Amarillo High continued to roll. Tascosa, Lubbock Cooper and Liberty added important district victories, while New Home and Ropes both had to go the distance before escaping with five set wins.

RANDALL SURVIVES A FIVE SET BATTLE WITH WEST PLAINS. šŸ”„


Randall and West Plains went the distance Tuesday night, with the Lady Raiders finding a way to escape with a five set victory.

(25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-27, 17-15)


Randall twice grabbed a one set advantage, but West Plains refused to go away. The Lady Wolves fought off the loss with a 27-25 win in the fourth to force a deciding fifth before Randall finally finished off the battle 17-15.

Sophomore Chloe Brown once again came up big when Randall needed her most, finishing with a 20 kill, 16 dig double double.

Hereford picked up another district victory Tuesday night, taking down Dumas in straight sets.

The Whitefaces had to finish a pair of tight sets, battling out 25-22 wins in both the first and third. In between, Hereford created some breathing room with a 25-18 second set before closing the door on the sweep.

The Canyon Lady Eagles stayed perfect in District 4-4A play Tuesday night, hitting the road and making quick work of Perryton in straight sets.

Canyon controlled the match from beginning to end, holding Perryton to 12 points or fewer in all three sets to complete another dominant district sweep.

Lubbock Cooper Liberty continued its strong start to District 5-4A play Tuesday night, dismantling Levelland in straight sets.

The Lady Patriots controlled the first two sets before completely taking over in the third, holding Levelland to just seven points to put an exclamation point on the sweep.

Tascosa picked up another District 3-5A victory Tuesday night, battling past Coronado in four competitive sets.

The Lady Rebels grabbed a tight opening set and carried that momentum into wins in the second and third. Coronado continued to battle in the fourth, but Tascosa found a way to finish another close one 25-23 to close out the match.

ROPES WINS A FIVE SET THRILLER AT VEGA. šŸšŸ”„


Ropes made the trip to Vega Tuesday night and came home with a hard fought five set victory.

(25-21, 25-10, 25-27, 18-25, 15-12)


Ropes looked to be in complete control after taking the first two sets, including a dominant 25-10 win in the second. But Vega refused to go away, surviving a 27-25 battle in the third before taking the fourth to force a deciding fifth.


With the match on the line, Ropes regrouped and finished the job, taking the fifth 15-12 to escape Vega with a big road win.

FORSAN TAKES DOWN BALLINGER IN FOUR. šŸšŸ”„


Forsan defended its home floor Tuesday night, battling past a scrappy Ballinger squad in four sets.

After Forsan grabbed the opener, Ballinger answered by taking a tight second set 25-23. The Lady Buffs responded from there, regaining control with a 25-17 third before pulling away in the fourth to close out the win.

New Home had to dig deep Tuesday night, surviving a five set battle to pick up its 14th win of the season.

(25-9, 24-26, 13-25, 25-14, 16-14)


The Lady Leopards dominated the opening set before dropping back to back sets and suddenly finding themselves one set away from a loss. New Home responded in a big way, rolling 25-14 in the fourth to force a deciding fifth.


Then came the battle. With the match hanging in the balance, the Lady Leopards found a way to finish, taking the fifth 16-14 to complete the comeback victory.
