HISTORY IN AMARILLO HEADLINES A LOADED TUESDAY NIGHT ACROSS WEST TEXAS šŸšŸ”„

Sep 23
8 min read

The biggest story of the night came in Amarillo, where Tascosa knocked off Amarillo High for the first time since 2010, ending a drought that stretched more than 15 years and shaking up the District 3-5A race.

But there was plenty more happening across West Texas. Frenship Memorial swept Monterey in a big Lubbock matchup, Lubbock Cooper closed out the first half of district play at 7-2, West Plains swept Hereford, Canyon answered after dropping the opening set against Dumas, and Ropes beat Plains for the first time since 2023.

From milestone wins to district races heating up, we’ve got the scores, stats and stories from a loaded Tuesday night of West Texas volleyball! šŸ‘‡šŸ»šŸšŸ”„

šŸ”„ TASCOSA ENDS THE STREAK! šŸ”„

Seventy four straight district wins. Nearly seven years. And Tuesday night, Tascosa brought it to an end.

In front of an INCREDIBLE home crowd that was in it every step of the way, the Lady Rebels knocked off Amarillo High for the first time since 2010, ending a 74 match district winning streakĀ for the Sandies that dated all the way back to October 26, 2019.

And this one absolutely lived up to the moment.

Coach Carley McCrackenĀ pushed all the right buttons at the right time. Emily Caviness and Presley WardĀ seemed to read the Amarillo High hitters all night long, keeping ball after ball off the floor and giving the Tascosa offense another chance.

Then Presley, Blaire Whatley and Harlan SingletonĀ made those opportunities count against an outstanding Amarillo High defense.

Every set was a battle. Three of the four were decided by three points or fewer, including a 26-24 third set that helped swing the match toward Tascosa.

And when the final point hit the floor, the Tascosa student section poured onto the court to celebrate with the Lady Rebels!
