West Texas Volleyball Weekend Recap: Tournaments Deliver Hardware Across the Area

It was a weekend filled with championships, milestones, and statement performances for West Texas volleyball. From San Angelo to Farmersville to Granbury and beyond, programs across the area battled some of the state’s best competition, and came home with plenty of hardware.
Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates Take San Angelo

The Lady Pirates captured the Nita Vannoy Memorial Tournament Championship in San Angelo after running the table in both pool and bracket play.
Pool play wins: Sterling City, Bronte, and Lake View
Semifinal: defeated Wall 2-1
Championship: defeated 6A San Angelo Central 2-1
Standouts: Broox Lopez (64 assists, 14 kills, 18 digs in bracket play), Konli Johnston (19 kills, 23 digs), and Haley McCallick (21 kills, 13 digs).
Cooper now sits at 11-4 overall and opens district play Tuesday at Palo Duro.
Coronado Lady Mustangs Impress in Granbury
Coronado delivered its best finish in at least 8 years at the Granbury Tournament, placing 11th overall.
Pool play wins over Mansfield Timberview and Granbury
Saturday win over Stephenville before falling to Joshua
Standouts included Hailee Parrott Curtis (double-digit kills in nearly every match) and Addison Brown (dig machine throughout). Coronado is now 8-7 overall, 1-0 in district, and hosts Amarillo High Tuesday night.
Liberty Lady Patriots Finish Runner-Up in Glen Rose

After winning the Bev Ball Classic last weekend, Liberty pushed through another grueling stretch, finishing second at the Glen Rose Tournament.
Honors: Campbell Beeler and sophomore Lexie Allgood earned All-Tournament recognition, while Kennedy Ezell and Taelyn Salinas both recorded their 1,000th career dig.
Liberty now sits at 17-1 and faces #1 Shallowater on Tuesday.
The Shallowater Fillies rolled through the Lu Allen Memorial

The Shallowater Fillies added another trophy to the case this weekend, bringing home the Lu Allen Memorial Tournament Championship in Graham.
The Fillies worked their way through a tough field and capped things off with a strong showing in bracket play.
Semifinal: Shallowater defeated Graham in straight sets, 25-22, 25-21, behind a balanced attack and steady defense.
Championship: Shallowater took down Paradise in convincing fashion, 25-17, 25-14, to secure the title.
Shallowater now sits at 12-1 ahead of a Tuesday night showdown with Liberty at home.

Bushland Lady Falcons Dominate Farmersville

The Bushland Lady Falcons went undefeated to win the Top of Texas Tournament at Farmersville High School.
Pool play wins: China Spring, Van Alstyne, Poteet, and Gunter
Bracket play wins: Lindale, Caddo Mills, and Clyde
Championship: defeated Clyde 25-14, 24-26, 25-21
The Lady Falcons continue to build momentum with another tournament crown.
Clyde Lady Bulldogs Finish Runner-Up
Clyde made an impressive run to the Farmersville championship match before falling just short against Bushland. The Lady Bulldogs pushed the title match to three sets (14-25, 26-24, 21-25), showing they’ll be a force moving forward.
West Plains Lady Wolves Claim 3rd Place
After a heartbreaking semifinal loss to Liberty, West Plains rallied to take 3rd place in Glen Rose with a win over Boyd.

A Weekend to Remember
From Glen Rose to Granbury, from Farmersville to San Angelo, West Texas volleyball made its presence felt in gyms all across the state. With multiple championships, All-Tournament honors, and milestone achievements, the bar has been set high for the rest of the season.
And if this weekend is any indication, there’s plenty more hardware headed back to West Texas in 2025.
