Another busy night of action across the South Plains saw statement wins, thrilling comebacks, and rivalry showdowns that didn’t disappoint. The headliner came at the Tiger Pit in Wolfforth, where Frenship took down rival Lubbock-Cooper in four sets. Liberty went on the road to West Plains, where the Lady Patriots survived a marathon third set to stay undefeated on the year.


From Amarillo High’s sweep to River Road’s gritty five-set rally, teams across the region showed mid-season toughness as records begin to take shape and momentum builds heading into tournament play this weekend.

In their district opener, Coronado grabbed the first two sets before Monterey stormed back in the third, at one point leading 17-8. The Lady Mustangs rallied late but fell short as Coronado regrouped in set four to finish the match.

While Hereford came away with the four-set win, the night belonged to Lubbock Christian libero Whitlee Blacklock, who turned in a career performance with 63 digs, an incredible effort that kept the Lady Eagles alive in a back-and-forth battle. After Hereford claimed the first two sets, Lubbock Christian roared back with a dominant third, fueled by Blacklock’s defensive presence. The fourth set went down to the wire before the Lady Whitefaces closed it out 28-26 to seal the match.

River Road vs. Miami


Final: River Road def. Miami 3-2 (16-25, 16-25, 25-12, 25-23, 15-13)

After dropping the first two sets, the Lady Cats clawed back in dramatic fashion to win the next three, sealing a thrilling five-set victory over a tough Miami squad.
