The Lubbock-Cooper Liberty Lady Patriots left their mark at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, proving they belong among the state’s elite. With record-breaking performances and top-tier finishes, the team showed resilience and determination against some of the best competition in the country.
The squad—consisting of Campbell Beeler, Ella Hurst, Kate Curtis, Natalie Miller, and Braylee Barron—delivered standout performances in multiple relay events. The highlight of the weekend came in the 4x200-meter relay, where the Lady Patriots shattered the school record by an incredible 2.5 seconds, clocking a time of 1:43.48. Their dominance continued in the 4x400-meter relay, as they set another school record with a time of 4:03.29, securing a top-10 finish. Additionally, the team showed their speed in the 4x100-meter relay, posting a solid time of 49.82 seconds.
Freshman Ella Hurst made her mark in the field events, leaping 37 feet, 9 1/4 inches in the triple jump to finish 11th overall. Competing on such a prestigious stage, she showcased her potential to be a future standout in Texas track and field.

Head Coach Hunter Dewbre was proud of the team’s effort and the valuable experience gained from competing at such a high level.
“Our girls came out and competed well,” Dewbre said. “This was a new experience for them, and our goal was to prepare them for State. We wanted them to get all the jitters out. They never backed down. They just went and competed, and now they know what it takes to get there.”
For Campbell Beeler, stepping onto the track at the University of Texas was an unforgettable moment.
"It was such a great experience! I never had a chance to run at UT, and I’m so grateful I had an opportunity to go down there with great coaches and teammates," Beeler said. "Hopefully, we will have a chance to go again in May."
With their Texas Relays performance setting the tone, the Lady Patriots now have their sights set on the district meet this week, with bigger goals ahead. If this weekend was any indication, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty is a force to be reckoned with on the road to the State Championships.
