Dalhart 7th Grader Kaelyn Speer Breaks 38-Year-Old Record at Wildcat Relays

Dalhart’s Kaelyn Speer delivered a jaw-dropping performance at the Wildcat Relays in Canadian, making history and proving she is a rising star in Texas track and field. The 7th grader shattered a 38-year-old meet record in the 400m dash, finishing with a blazing time of 1:06.41—breaking the previous mark of 1:07.2 set back in 1986.


Speer’s dominant showing didn’t stop with the record-breaking 400m race. She showcased her all-around athletic ability across multiple events, securing a total of four first-place finishes and a second-place finish in another event.
