Tuesday Night Roundup - Canyon Wins 5-Set Thriller, Amarillo High Stays Perfect, Bushland Hits 99 Straight, and Andrews’ Dyches Earns 150th Career Win

Tuesday night across the Panhandle and South Plains was packed with high-stakes volleyball and milestone moments. Canyon outlasted West Plains in a five-set thriller, Randall battled past Hereford to stay unbeaten, and Amarillo High swept through Coronado to remain perfect in district play. Perryton broke a nine-year drought with a long-awaited district win, Andrews’ Coach Ashley Dyches celebrated her 150th career victory, and powerhouse Bushland extended its incredible streak to 99 straight district wins. From 6A showdowns to 3A milestones, the night had it all.

Canyon Outlasts West Plains in 5-Set Thriller

In the game of the night, Canyon and West Plains lived up to the hype in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the wire. The Lady Wolves struck first, taking the opening set 25-22, but Canyon answered with back-to-back wins (25-20, 25-20). West Plains forced a deciding fifth set after claiming the fourth 25-21, setting up a dramatic finish.


The final frame was everything you’d expect from two of the Panhandle’s toughest programs. Canyon edged out the Wolves 18-16 to seal the gritty win, improving to 15-14 overall. West Plains drops to 23-11. The night also marked the return of standout Laney Jones, who was back in action after missing a week with an ankle injury.

Randall Rallies to Outlast Hereford in Five


Randall and Hereford went the distance Tuesday night in a thrilling district matchup. The Lady Whitefaces grabbed momentum early, taking the second and fourth sets, but Randall found a way late, pulling out a 15-9 win in the fifth to secure the 3-2 victory (26-24, 27-29, 25-20, 6-25, 15-9).


The win keeps the Lady Raiders unbeaten in district play, while Hereford moves to 15-15 overall and 3-4 in district.

What a night for the Rette Volleyball program! For the first time in more than 9 YEARS, Perryton celebrated a district victory, knocking off Borger 3-1 at home.

Amarillo High Sweeps Coronado to Stay Perfect in District


The Amarillo High Sandies kept rolling Tuesday night, sweeping Coronado 25-10, 25-19, 25-17. The win improves AHS to 24-9 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in district play.

The Bushland Lady Falcons continued their district dominance Tuesday night, sweeping Dalhart 25-14, 25-17, 26-24. With the win, Bushland extends its remarkable streak to 99 straight district victories.


Dalhart pushed hard in the third set, nearly forcing a 4th set but the Lady Falcons held on to finish the sweep and keep their perfect run intact.
