Saturday morning at LCP was my first chance to see Coach Paige Hauger and her Cowgirls, but before jumping into this year’s squad, you have to talk about the job Hauger did in Year 1 at Plains.

The Cowgirls won 27 games, went a perfect 10-0 in district and brought home a Bi-District Championship. That is a pretty strong way to kick off Coach Hauger’s tenure.

They bring back District 2-2A MVP Jade Guetersloh. Guetersloh heads into her senior year after putting together a monster junior season with 359 kills, 347 digs and 44 aces. You do not have to watch Plains long before her leadership jumps out at you. She affects the match in a lot of different ways and is clearly the player this group leans on.

There were definitely some really good moments Saturday at LCP. We will definitely know a lot more about this Cowgirl team after this weekend’s tournament in Shallowater when we get to see them in full match action and against a variety of opponents.

But one thing I already feel pretty confident about...

This group is going to be a force in 2A-D2 and after what Coach Hauger and the Cowgirls accomplished last year, nobody should be surprised if they are playing deep into the postseason.
