Lady Pirates Dominate in 16-1 Win Over Lubbock High

The Lubbock Cooper Lady Pirates put on an offensive clinic Saturday, rolling past Lubbock High with a commanding 16-1 victory. The dominant performance was fueled by Lainey Gibson, who drove in five runs, including a grand slam in the third inning.
The Lady Pirates wasted no time setting the tone, jumping on the board early in the first inning. Gibson's sacrifice fly got things started, while Alyssa Lozano doubled down the left field line and McKanna Garcia delivered an RBI single up the middle to give Lubbock Cooper an early 3-0 lead.
The Lady Pirates added to their advantage in the second inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and aggressive base running. Makayla Garza tripled to center field to drive in a run, Gabbi Hernandez followed with an RBI single, and Hernandez later scored to extend the lead to 6-0.
The highlight of the game came in the third inning, when the Lady Pirates erupted for 10 runs to win the game in a run rule. Arayla Grant and Garza each delivered two-run singles, Lydia Pesterfield worked a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run, and then Gibson launched a grand slam over center field to cap off the explosive inning. Garza added an RBI single later in the frame to complete the onslaught.
Lubbock High managed to score its lone run in the top of the third inning, courtesy of a solo home run by Ysenia Lazano after a six-pitch battle at the plate.

Brooklyn Ray was stellar in the circle for the Lady Pirates, earning the win with a three-inning outing. She allowed just two hits and one run while striking out seven and walking one. Lubbock High’s Haley Sotelo took the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) over two and one-third innings.
Lubbock Cooper’s offense was relentless, collecting 13 hits on the day. Hernandez and Garza each recorded three hits, while Lozano and Garcia added multi-hit performances.
Lubbock High’s offense was limited, with Kaelyn Trevino and Ysenia Lazano each recording one hit. Lazano's home run accounted for the lone run of the game for the Lady Westerners.
The Lady Pirates move to 14-4 on the season and 4-0 in District Play, they will look to keep their momentum going as they hit the road to face Tascosa on Thursday.
