LUBBOCK, TX – The Lubbock Cooper Liberty Lady Patriots couldn’t hold onto an early lead Saturday, falling 15-5 to the Trinity Christian Lady Lions in their final non-district game. A nine-run third inning proved to be the difference as Trinity Christian capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to take control.

Liberty seemed to be in the driver’s seat early. After falling behind 2-0 in the second, the Lady Patriots stormed back in the top of the third. Jacy McKown delivered a clutch double to center, plating one run, before Hagen Walker launched a two-run homer to left, putting Liberty ahead 4-2.
That lead was short-lived. In the bottom half of the inning, the Lady Lions unleashed an offensive onslaught, scoring nine runs on four hits while taking advantage of six free passes. Bri Byers’ two-run single highlighted the rally, and by the time the dust settled, Trinity Christian had built a commanding 12-4 lead.
McKown provided a bright spot for Liberty with a solo home run in the fifth, finishing the day 2-for-3 with three RBIs. She also took the start in the circle but struggled with control, surrendering 12 runs (10 earned) over two innings. Harli Stone came on in relief, working the final 3 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on four hits.
Trinity Christian spread the offense around, with Brynlee Hogg driving in three runs and Allie Everett leading all hitters with three hits. The Lady Lions also showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks to keep pressure on Liberty’s pitching staff.
Despite the tough loss, Liberty will look to bounce back as they enter district play. They open their conference schedule Tuesday against the Estacado Varsity Matadors, hoping to shake off the defensive miscues and find more consistency on the mound.
