Texas high school football is back and Region 1 features a loaded depth chart at the quarterback position. From veteran resume-builders to rising phenoms, here's a look at the signal-callers set to define the fall.

Quaid Ferris – Frenship Tigers

Standing 6′4″ and weighing 190lbs, Ferris transferred from 3A Bushland to Frenship this summer and everyone is watching. After throwing 38 touchdown passes with a 73% completion rate at Bushland, he now takes over an offense that produced 4,000+ passing yards and 57 TD's in 2024. Ferris’ size, arm, and leader mindset make him an instant Big 12 springboard if things click this season.

Broxton Robinson – Panhandle Panthers

A true do-it-all athlete, Robinson led Panhandle to a 9–1 regular season in 2024 by dominating both sides of the ball. As the Panthers’ quarterback, he threw for 2,090 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 1,214 yards and 23 more scores. Defensively, he chipped in 92 tackles and an interception, showcasing the kind of toughness and versatility that helped earn him post season accolades across West Texas.

Robinson committed to Army on June 16, 2025, where he’s projected to play running back. But make no mistake he’s one of the most dynamic QB1s in West Texas heading into 2025.

Reid Macon – West Plains Wolves

No debate here, Macon is one of the state’s most accomplished QBs. Entering his senior year, he’ll start his 41st varsity game under center. In 2024, he completed 263‑of‑371 passes (71%!), threw for 3,528 yards and 36 TDs, and added 576 rushing yards with 15 more scores. His Wolves advanced to the Class 4A D‑I semifinals, falling just short of the championship. Colleagues and coaches openly call him one of

the best in Texas.

Jett Lopez – Amarillo High Sandies

Jett Lopez rewrote the Amarillo High record books in 2024 with the most prolific passing season in the program’s storied history. He completed 199-of-303 passes for 3,004 yards and 34 touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions, becoming the first Sandies quarterback to surpass the 3,000-yard mark. A true dual-threat, Lopez also added 280 rushing yards and 10 more scores, giving defenses fits all year long. Expect even bigger things from the senior leader as he enters the 2025 season with momentum and experience.

Landon York – Wall Hawks

One of the breakout stars in West Texas, Landon York earned District MVP honors in 2024 after an incredible junior campaign. The Wall Hawks quarterback completed 67% of his passes for 3,767 yards and 48 touchdowns, guiding his team to a 13-2 record, a perfect run through district play, and a trip to the 3A Division II state semifinals. York's poise, accuracy, and big-play ability make him one of the most electric returning quarterbacks in the state heading into 2025.

Colton Mills – Dumas Demons

A prolific playmaker even as a sophomore, Mills threw for over 3,000 yards and 33 touchdowns last year, making him one of the youngest guns reaching these numbers in Region 1.

Briggs Satterfield – Gruver Greyhounds

Gruver’s Briggs Satterfield delivered a monster junior season that earned him District 1-2A Division II Co-Offensive MVP honors. The dual-threat quarterback piled up 2,935 passing yards and 37 touchdowns through the air, while adding 984 rushing yards and 18 more scores on the ground. With nearly 4,000 total yards of offense and 55 total touchdowns, Satterfield proved he’s one of the most dynamic playmakers in the Region and he is back in 2025 looking to take the Greyhounds even deeper.

Daniel Ramos – Lamesa Golden Tornados

As a freshman in 2024, Ramos led Lamesa to the district title for the first time in decades powered by his 38 touchdown passes and career-high passing efficiency. His poise under pressure and quick development made him a returning standout to watch.

Wyatt Gavit – Jacksboro Tigers

Jacksboro’s rising senior Wyatt Gavit put together one of the top statistical seasons in Region 1 last fall. He passed for 3,667 yards and 45 touchdowns while throwing only eight interceptions, leading a high-powered Tigers offense. Gavit also rushed for 586 yards, proving to be a true dual-threat under center. With another year to go, Gavit is poised to elevate Jacksboro’s postseason hopes as one of the most electric quarterbacks in the area.

Seth Mayberry – Plainview Bulldogs

Plainview’s Seth Mayberry was a steady force for the Bulldogs in 2024, throwing for 2,386 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing 184 of 315 pass attempts. A true dual-threat, Mayberry also added 750 rushing yards, making him a nightmare for defenses to contain. With his ability to make plays through the air and on the ground, the senior quarterback is set to lead Plainview into a competitive 2025 campaign.

🛰️ Why This QB Class Matters

  • Experience and continuity: Ferris and Macon bring proven leadership into new roles or seasons.

  • Youth making noise: The likes of Mills and Ramos already deliver at a high level.

  • Region-wide impact: These signal-callers are shaping the offensive identities of nearly every top team in Region 1.

Whether it’s sparkling stats in 2024, playoff poise, or summer transfers sparking fresh expectations, these young men are the quarterbacks who could steal headlines all season.
