One of the most electric playmakers in the 2026 recruiting class is ready to make his college decision, and the entire Big 12 is watching closely.

Frenship standout Chase Campbell, a four-star wide receiver with game-breaking speed and elite production, is set to announce his commitment on Tuesday, July 22, live on 247Sports’ YouTube channel. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound junior has narrowed his choices to three Big 12 contenders: Texas Tech, Baylor, and Kansas State.

📊 2024 Season Recap

Campbell’s numbers from his sophomore season speak for themselves:

  • 81 receptions

  • 1,497 receiving yards

  • 18 receiving touchdowns

  • 314 rushing yards & 6 rushing TD's

  • 1 kickoff return touchdown (99+ yards)

  • First Team All-District selection

A true three-level threat, Campbell can take the top off a defense, shake defenders in space, and finish with strength at the goal line. His track speed, evidenced by a blazing 22.25-second 200-meter time gives him separation ability rarely seen at the high school level.

🧠 Leadership Beyond the Stats

Campbell's impact goes well beyond the box score. His quarterback, Quaid Ferris, offered a glimpse into the kind of leader Campbell is inside the huddle.

“Chase is the guy who always brings the younger guys along. He’s mentoring them constantly, showing them the right way to do things,” Ferris said. “As a former quarterback himself, he sees the field differently. He comes back to the huddle and tells everyone what the defense is doing, he’s like having a second QB out there. But more than that, for as great of a football player as he is, he’s an even better person.”

That football IQ and selfless leadership have become hallmarks of his game and traits that college coaches have quickly taken notice of.

🔥 Big 12 Battle: The Final Three

🟥 Texas Tech: The Hometown Favorite

According to almost all of the major recruiting sites Texas Tech holds the edge heading into the announcement. The Red Raiders were the first to offer Campbell back in March 2024, a gesture he hasn’t forgotten.

“Being the first to offer me, they believed in me, and that’s a big part of why they’re up there,” Campbell told Rivals.

Tech’s proximity to home, top-tier facilities, and deep local connections have helped head coach Joey McGuire and his staff build a strong foundation. Campbell has also worked out with Red Raider legend Michael Crabtree, reinforcing the program’s wide receiver legacy and potential fit.

🟢 Baylor: Relationship Driven

Baylor wide receivers coach Dallas Baker has developed a strong personal bond with Campbell throughout the process. The Bears offer a unique culture and competitive opportunity within the Big 12, and their development of wideouts continues to turn heads. The Waco program has consistently stayed in the mix as a serious contender.

🟣 Kansas State: The Wild Card

Kansas State, led by former Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells, brings a more under-the-radar pitch to the table — but one built on trust and family ties. There’s a personal connection at play here, and Campbell’s respect for the Wildcat staff has kept them firmly in his top three.

📅 What’s Next

Campbell will make his highly anticipated announcement tomorrow, Tuesday, July 22, and the choice could have a ripple effect across the 2026 recruiting landscape in the Big 12. Whether he stays close to home in Lubbock, heads to Waco, or becomes a Wildcat in Manhattan, Campbell is expected to be an instant-impact weapon at the next level.

And wherever he lands, fans can expect fireworks.
