Your Amarillo Sod Poodles didn't lose a single series in the month of July. Outside of a series split at Hodgetown against Frisco in arguably the craziest series of the season up to this point, the Soddies won every series, leading them to a 14-7 record (and counting) in the month. The Sod Poodles snatched a series in the Sparkling City by the Sea last week against the Hooks 4-2 after taking a series in San Antonio the weekend before. Let’s look at who is red hot coming home.

Wednesday night felt like a walk-off, but the Hodgetown crowd got the real deal on Thursday night.

After an extra innings heartbreaker on Tuesday night that slipped away, it looked like Frisco was about to cool off this hot Amarillo team. Down a run and sitting at 48 home runs wearing a Sod Poodles uniform, Ivan Melendez stepped to the plate and worked a 2-1 count before sending Hodgetown into a frenzy. Amarillo put a great weekend together with timely hitting that they had been missing in the previous series, and a great showing from their bullpen.

Just one out away from being no-hit in the series opener on Tuesday, LuJames Groover, Avery Short, and the Sod Poodles had other ideas on Wednesday night.

This week, the Hodgetown fans witnessed something rare probably without even realizing it. For the second time this season, Sod Poodles outfielder Kristian Robinson and Frisco Roughriders top prospect Sebastian Walcott faced off on the field, both representing the Bahamas.
